Dr. Ali Behravan is a German researcher, entrepreneur and university lecturer with an interdisciplinary background in artificial intelligence and neural networks, cyber-physical systems (CPS), the Internet of Things (IoT), fault detection and diagnosis (FDD), energy, building technology and intelligent automation. He has been the founder and owner of GreeNovaX since 2023.

He earned his PhD (Dr.-Ing.) in Applied Computer Science from the University of Siegen in 2021 with the highest distinction (summa cum laude) and holds BSc and MSc degrees in Mechanical Engineering, focused on thermo-fluid systems and energy conversion. From 2016 to 2025 he worked as a senior researcher and lecturer at the Chair for Embedded Systems at the University of Siegen, teaching the graduate course “Embedded Control Systems” and supervising numerous MSc and PhD projects.

He has coordinated and led several international collaborative projects, served as organiser and co-chair of the IEEE ODRE 2020 Workshop, session chair at IEEE SysCon 2018 and scientific committee member for conferences including IEEE CoDIT and ICIE. He reviews for journals such as Energy, Energy and Buildings and MDPI Energies, has authored 16 peer-reviewed publications and received the Best Paper Award at IEEE IEMCON 2018.

Earlier in his career he worked as an HVAC system consultant and project manager for complex building installations – hands-on engineering experience that shapes his system-level thinking and applied approach to innovation.

GreeNovaX

Founded at the University of Siegen’s SUMMIT centre

GreeNovaX was founded in 2023 at the SUMMIT start-up centre of the University of Siegen. The company develops sustainable high-tech solutions in IoT, smart building systems, AI-based energy management, cyber-physical systems, system reliability and fault-tolerant control through advanced fault diagnosis. It aims to advance the goals of the European Green Deal and the UN Sustainable Development Goals by combining academic excellence with entrepreneurial agility.
